What This Article Is About
This is not describing who you are, but describing what kind of creative climate you are currently experiencing.
The Output God (Shi Shen) Cycle, whether it is a ten-year Luck Cycle (Da Yun) or a one-year Annual Luck (Liu Nian), does not mean you have suddenly become an artist. It means your expressive climate has changed. Originally your Te was mainly used to push forward, manage, achieve — the Output God Cycle adds another dimension to it: creation. You not only can get things done, but can feel joy in the process of doing them — not the joy of results, but the joy of process.
The same ESTJ, in a pure execution period versus in an Output God Cycle, will seem like two completely different people. Not because your personality has changed, but because your environment has activated your creativity and expressive desire. This article aims to clarify: what exactly is this spring, how do your ESTJ functions operate in this creative climate, and are you the type who can turn creativity into works, or the type who needs to be careful not to lose direction amid the joy.

What Is the Output God (Shi Shen) Cycle
The Ten Gods (Shi Shen) describe a direction of energy, not a personality. The essence of Output God is same polarity, draining me: energy of the same nature as the Day Master, direction flowing outward, but an expressive force without aggression.
It is not "suddenly having talent," nor just "suddenly wanting to do something you enjoy." More precisely, Output God is like a spring welling up from inside you — it isn't added from outside; it's something already there that has had its outlet opened. The things you do are no longer "for the sake of completing a goal" but "this thing itself gives me satisfaction."
The core distinction between Output God and Hurting Officer (Shang Guan): Output God is spring water, naturally welling up, not harming the surroundings; Hurting Officer is a blade's edge, splitting existing structures while expressing. Output God makes people comfortable; Hurting Officer makes people sting.
Entering an Output God Cycle means this gentle, creative energy that makes the process of producing itself become enjoyable is in a dominant position within your current destiny cycle. It is not part of your personality, but the expressive environment you are in during this period.
Duration:
- Luck Cycle Output God: About ten years. The overall mode of producing shifts from "efficiency-centered" to "creation and expression-centered." You will develop creative dimensions you didn't have before — doing not only what "should be done," but also what you "want to do."
- Annual Luck Output God: About one year. A period of creation superimposed on the original (base color). May manifest as suddenly developing interest in a certain craft, wanting to make what you produce more beautiful/refined/more personally styled, or an experience of "doing this thing itself is already so joyful."
What ESTJ Encounters During an Output God Cycle
The most common sensation during this period is: "For the first time, I feel that doing things themselves — not the achievement after finishing, but the focus during the doing — can be addictive."
It's not that you've suddenly become slower or lazier, but that you're using Te, previously only used to pursue efficiency, to pursue quality, enjoy process, and express yourself. For ESTJ, this is a completely new experience — you may previously have rarely drawn an equal sign between "work" and "joy"; the Output God Cycle makes this equal sign appear.
Specific manifestations typically appear at the following levels:
Career & Creation
Entering an Output God Cycle, the first thing you typically notice is that you suddenly have higher demands for the quality of your own output.
- You start wanting to "make things well," not just "get things done." Before, Te was about getting things through acceptance; in the Output God Cycle, Te is about making things worthy of being appreciated. You'll spend extra time polishing, revise one more time, add an effect others might not notice but you want.
- You suddenly develop interest in craftsmanship. Not necessarily traditional crafts — it could be that you suddenly care about font spacing when making PPTs, that you suddenly want your written reports to read more smoothly, that you suddenly want the team you lead to forge a unique team culture. Output God activates the "creator" side of you that was previously suppressed by efficiency.
- Your output starts having personal style. Before, others would look at your results and say "very professional"; in the Output God Cycle, others say "this really has your feel." Not becoming narcissistic — your expression has finally risen from pure functionality to a level carrying your personal imprint.
- Or you discover you start enjoying some "useless" things. Before, you strictly filtered what was worth spending time on — must be useful, must have output, must have clear goals. In the Output God Cycle, you might suddenly spend an afternoon organizing your bookshelf, researching how to make a dish, writing a passage not meant for submission — not because it's useful, but because you're happy while doing it.
Interpersonal
In the Output God Cycle, your creativity warms the atmosphere in relationships.
- You become easier to get along with than before. Te in the Output God Cycle is no longer just pushing efficiency — it starts caring about quality, experience, aesthetics. Others notice "how come you're not as rushed lately" — not that you've become slower, but your attention has been (dispersed) to an area previously undeveloped.
- Your expression is more natural. Before, you might speak (biased) functionally — "who does what, when it's done." In the Output God Cycle, you start having extra words — a (casual) joke, a sharing about some detail, an invitation of "isn't this kind of interesting."
- Some people will draw closer to you because of your creations. What you make — a system, a proposal, a dish, a space — becomes a window for others to know a new side of you. Before, they knew "the capable you"; in the Output God Cycle, they see "the you with taste."
Internal
Externally enjoying creation; internally experiencing "the efficiency machine finally has a soul."
- Te is endowed with a new driving force — not just "must complete," but also "I want to make it better." This driving force was previously very weak in Te — Te asks "is it right," "is it there," "is it enough"; Output God makes it ask "is it beautiful," "is it interesting," "are you satisfied."
- Si finds deep fulfillment in creation. Weaving your experience together with your aesthetic, weaving your (sedimentation) together with your expression — Si is no longer just a database; it becomes the material library of your personal style.
- Fi is gently nourished. Output God is a gentle form of self-expression — no intense emotions needed, no (confrontation) needed, just "I made what I was thinking." For ESTJ, this kind of non-intense, non-confrontational Fi expression is rare and precious.
Important note: The Output God Cycle does not equal pure pleasure-seeking. For a Strong Day Master ESTJ, this is the period of producing works with the most personal style and highest quality; for a Weak Day Master ESTJ, Output God drains the Day Master — it's a double-edged sword. Creativity makes you happy, but if the energy flowing out isn't (recovered) enough, it will make your foundation thinner the more you produce.
Key Judgment: Are You a Strong or Weak Day Master?
When walking the Output God Cycle, Strong and Weak Day Master ESTJs are enjoying the same spring water, but the spring's effect on you is completely different.
Strong Day Master × Output God Cycle: Spring water becomes creative power
For those with a strong enough Day Master, the Output God Cycle is the best period for converting surplus energy into quality works. You already have sufficient execution power — what Output God gives you is expressive direction and the ability to enjoy. What you're making — not only completed, but done well; not only done well, but after finishing, you look at it and feel satisfied.
Typical signals: you start (paying attention to) "feeling" when doing things; you start caring about the aesthetic dimension of the works you produce; you experience, in the process of doing things, a previously rare "flow state" — not forced focus, but willingly losing track of time.
Weak Day Master × Output God Cycle: Spring water becomes a drain source
For those whose Day Master strength is insufficient, the Output God Cycle (easily) becomes a draining cycle of "the more you do, the more you enjoy; the more you enjoy, the more you do; the more you do, the more tired you get." Output God drains the Day Master — creativity is flowing out, but your energy reserves are declining. It's not that you don't know you're tired — but doing this thing is too joyful; you can't bear to stop.
Typical signals: immersed in your creation, forgetting time — but when you stand up, you discover you're exhausted as if drained dry; the quality of what you make is better than before — but your physical strength, sleep, and social energy are (synchronously) declining; you start using "this is something I enjoy" to (rationally) continue working during rest time.
Daily self-test: In this "the process itself is joyful" experience the Output God Cycle gives you, do you feel more energized and spiritually fuller after finishing (leaning strong), or very happy while doing it but (only want to) collapse after finishing, mind empty, needing coffee or willpower to restart the next day (leaning weak)?
How ESTJ's Cognitive Functions Operate in the Output God Cycle
Te (Dominant Function) × Output God Cycle
The Output God Cycle is an "upgraded version" of Te. Te's original function is pushing efficiency and completing goals — Output God adds aesthetic and quality dimensions to it. You're no longer simply "finished," but "made into the form I wanted to make it into."
When Strong: Te's efficiency and Output God's sense of quality form a high-output, high-quality creative engine. You not only do it fast, but do it well; not only do it well, but with your unique style. This is your golden window for producing personal representative works. When Weak: Te is "led astray" in priorities by Output God. You start (excessively) polishing details — a corner no one would notice, revised three times; a report due Thursday dragged to Friday because you kept "wanting to make it a little better." Efficiency is unknowingly consumed by the desire for quality.
Si (Auxiliary Function) × Output God Cycle
The Output God Cycle opens a new dimension for Si — Si no longer just stores experience; it starts weaving experience into aesthetics. You'll (re-) examine the things you've accumulated — before only looking at "is this useful"; Output God makes you look at "is this beautiful, does it hold up to scrutiny, does it have my feel."
When Strong: Si becomes your style material library. Your past experience and accumulation, activated by Output God, all become raw materials for your personal style — everything you make carries your imprint, because it uses your unique combination of experience. When Weak: Si (easily) immerses in the joy of "revising old works." You (repeatedly) polish already-completed things, reorganize already-archived materials, add yet another layer of detail to already-finalized plans. You're doing things, but no longer advancing forward.
Ne (Tertiary Function) × Output God Cycle
The Output God Cycle gently activates Ne. Creativity naturally needs "trying other directions" — Output God makes this experimentation pleasant rather than anxious.
When Strong: Ne naturally plays its role in creation — you'll think "what if I add this element," "what if I change the presentation method." These branches won't make you lost, because Te is behind controlling direction. When Weak: Ne (easily) lets creativity (diverge) beyond recovery. Start doing A, feel B is more interesting while doing it, halfway through B see C. Every direction feels joyful in the moment — but joy doesn't equal completion.
Fi (Inferior Function) × Output God Cycle
The Output God Cycle is a gentle awakening for ESTJ's Fi. Output God's expression is "expressing who I am through what I make" — for ESTJ, this is Fi's most natural, least threatening outlet. You're not saying "what kind of person I am"; you're simply making something into the form you like — but within that form, there is you.
The most important Fi experience in the Output God Cycle is not "I was understood," but "through what I made, I let myself see, for the first time, what kind of things I actually like."
How Others See You vs. What You're Really Experiencing
How Others See You
- ·Slowed down, not as sharp as before
- ·Started talking about "feeling" when doing things — not like the old you
- ·Enjoying life — before only knew how to work, now actually stops to savor
- ·Work is more beautiful than before, but delivery cycles are longer
- ·Seems "not as driven" — have you given up striving
What You're Really Experiencing
- ·Not slowed down — you're adding a quality layer to each step. What before took three steps to deliver, now you take two extra steps to make it the form you want
- ·Not suddenly talking about feeling — you've finally discovered another use for Te: not just "completing tasks," but "leaving your own imprint in the tasks"
- ·Not suddenly knowing how to enjoy — Output God has activated the "joy of process" that was always suppressed. Before, you were only fed by results; now the process has flavor too
- ·Not delivery slowing — your standards for yourself have risen a level. What you're delivering is not just a thing, but an expression of your ability
- ·Not giving up striving — you're "striving" in a different way. Before, striving was exerting force; now it's exerting heart
The Output God Cycle most easily gets ESTJ misread as "not as driven anymore," "efficiency declining." What others see is the surface: slower, caring about details, enjoying the process; but what you're truly experiencing is that your most core ability — Te — is being upgraded. It's learning a new output (mode): not just able to finish, but able to finish well; not just able to be used by others, but able to make others feel "you made this — it's wonderful."
Collaboration & Relationships: You Can Make People Comfortable Now
The Output God Cycle doesn't only change your output; it also changes how you approach relationships.
- What you give is quality; what subordinates receive is growth. Before, your guidance was "faster, more accurate." In the Output God Cycle, your guidance becomes "try this part again, see if this way might be better." What subordinates feel is not tighter standards, but a mentor-style (guidance).
- What you give is joy; what your partner receives is you coming back. Before, your energy was (entirely) on work; coming home was "switching tasks." In the Output God Cycle, you might suddenly be (eagerly) wanting to cook a meal together, rearrange the home, bring your partner to see the "interesting things" you've been making lately. What your partner feels is not you giving time, but you finally putting some attention back onto "life" itself.
- What you give is appreciation; what colleagues receive is you becoming grounded. You can see the good in others' works now — not just efficiency good, output good, but also aesthetic and cleverness. You'll open your mouth to praise people — before you felt "no need to say it; doing it well is expected."
The relational (lesson) in the Output God Cycle is not "how to use works to make others (recognize) me," but: That natural joy felt in creation — can I also share it with the people around me, letting them not just see my works, but also feel the softer, warmer self I become while creating these works.
5 Signals That You've Already Floated Away on the Spring
The joy of creation itself isn't (terrifying); what's is that you've forgotten this spring water is meant to flow somewhere.
1. From polishing quality to pursuing perfectionism. You start (repeatedly) revising something in an invisible place, revising to the point where even you can't clearly say what's better after the revision. Not polishing — using "still revising" to postpone "delivering."
2. From enjoying process to (escaping) delivery. Those extra two steps you're taking aren't (out of) quality needs, but because after finishing you'll face the (outcome) being judged — and your self-identity in the Output God Cycle is too high; you're afraid that after finishing, you'll be told "it's just like that."
3. From selective refinement to (undiscriminating) refinement. An internal meeting memo — you spent twenty minutes adjusting the formatting; a document no third person will ever see again — you revised the wording five times. Te's priority judgment is overridden by Output God's "quality joy."
4. From natural expression to using creation as a substitute for speaking. You're (increasingly) immersed in "things you made yourself" — not to let others see, but to avoid facing those relationships that require opening your mouth. Creation becomes a gentle refuge.
5. Physical energy is silently leaking. You don't feel tired while creating, but after finishing — the moment you stand up — you discover you've been hollowed out. Output God drains the Day Master; the weak are especially prone to this "invisible (overdraft)."
If you've hit more than two of these five, the most important next step is not to stop creating — but to set an outlet and stop time for your creation. Spring water can't keep welling up forever — it needs a container.
Strong Day Master ESTJ: How to Use This Period Well
A Strong Day Master walking the Output God Cycle is in the period most conducive to building personal brand and establishing unique style. Your execution is sufficiently strong; Output God adds quality and aesthetics — this is the golden window for producing representative works.
Put your "flavor" into everything you do
In the Output God Cycle, your most valuable thing is not how much you can do, but how what you do differs from what others do. Proactively leave traces that belong only to you on your work — a way of expressing, a processing logic, an aesthetic standard. These things will later become your name itself — others will know it's yours at a glance, a stronger moat than any title.
Use Output God's joy to touch complex tasks previously overcome only by willpower
The Output God Cycle has a hidden bonus: when "the process itself is enjoyment," you can patiently handle (detailed work) that previously felt (tedious), complex, and (unwilling) to touch. Seize this window to organize those systems, proposals, and assets that need fine polishing but have always been pushed back.
But don't forget priorities just because "doing it is too enjoyable"
The Strong Day Master's most common problem in the Output God Cycle: investing all energy into "fun creation" while neglecting strategic directions that are "important but not fun." Output God won't sort priorities for you — Te is your sorting radar; its judgment cannot be overridden by the joy of making.
Weak Day Master ESTJ: How to Hold Your Ground During This Period
A Weak Day Master walking the Output God Cycle is in a period that is "joyful but (not necessarily) empowering." Creativity is releasing, but energy is depleting. The core task is not to create more, but to use creation to charge yourself, not discharge yourself.
Clearly distinguish: is this thing giving me energy, or draining me
Output God drains the Day Master — the "joy" you feel while creating isn't necessarily you recovering; it might be you (overdrawing). Genuine recovery sensation: after finishing, feel mentally better, more energized. Pure drain sensation: after finishing, (only want to) collapse. If every creation session ends with the latter, you need to (significantly) reduce creation intensity and frequency.
Lock creativity within a (bearing) range
The Weak Day Master can't do everything. Choose one direction you most want to do, (best) (embody) your personal style; concentrate all of Output God's creativity there — not scattered across ten hobbies, but (deeply cultivated) in one. The joy the Output God Cycle gives you is more (lasting) when "doing deep" than when "doing many."
After Output God, there must be Seal (Yin, Resource) — after joy, there must be rest
Output God's production flows outward — what flows out is your energy. The Seal star supplements inward. After every creation session, (forcibly) enter Seal star mode: a stretch of quiet, a stretch of being cared for, a stretch of time where you don't need to produce anymore. Joy is important, but after joy you still need strength for tomorrow.
The Three Stages of the Output God Cycle
Whether it's a Luck Cycle or Annual Luck, the Output God Cycle typically has three identifiable stages. Using spring water as a metaphor makes it more precise.
Welling-Up Stage
You start noticing your motivation for doing things has changed. Before it was "because I must do it"; now it's "because I want to do it well." You might suddenly develop a research impulse toward something — not assigned as a task, but "I want to make it better than before."
The most important thing in this stage is to allow yourself to explore this newly welled-up energy — it's been suppressed beneath efficiency for too long.
Creation Stage
The spring fully wells up; creativity is abundant. Your demands for quality rise to a personal historical peak. Doing everything carries a (investment) of "not just must finish, but must be beautiful/refined/have my feel."
Strong Day Master ESTJ here (most easily) produces personal representative works; Weak Day Master ESTJ here most needs to control creation time. The most (hidden) risk in this stage: you're too happy and haven't noticed you're already (overdrawing).
Sedimentation Stage
The spring begins to slow; the creative impulse is no longer as strong. You'll discover what the Output God Cycle left behind is not a pile of works, but a new ability — you can now, when doing anything, carry a consciousness of quality and expression.
The most important thing in this stage is to internalize the "aesthetic standard" you created — let it no longer be a special-period impulse, but your default setting for daily work.
Luck Cycle Output God vs. Annual Luck Output God
Luck Cycle Output God (about ten years)
This is a long-term shift at the level of life expression methods. The entire (output) approach shifts from "function first" to "function and aesthetics in parallel." You'll become the kind of person where "what you make can be recognized as yours at a glance."
Strong Day Master walking Luck Cycle Output God: These ten years are the critical period for establishing your personal style and industry reputation. When others think of you, they don't think of "what you can do," but "only they can create that kind of feel." Weak Day Master walking Luck Cycle Output God: These ten years are a decade of creating while simultaneously learning energy management. You need to establish an iron rule: after creation, must (resupply).
Annual Luck Output God (about one year)
A one-year creative period superimposed on the original (base color). If the Luck Cycle itself is (biased) serious and execution-oriented, this year is a (rare) window to "catch your breath and do something you like"; if the Luck Cycle itself is relaxed, this year requires attention not to abandon core direction due to too much creation.
Growth Lessons in the Output God Cycle
What the Output God Cycle forces out of you isn't just your creativity, but also a new balance between "quality," "joy," and "efficiency."
- Quality does not equal delay. Te might interpret Output God's pursuit of quality as "it's slowing me down." But you need to learn to see one thing: quality and efficiency are not opposites. Something done fast but no one wants to use a second time, versus something done slightly slower but trusted every time — the latter is the true efficiency.
- Joy is not something superfluous. ESTJ (most easily) cuts something because "this thing isn't very useful." The Output God Cycle teaches you: some things are worth doing not because they're useful — but because doing them makes you happy, and the fact that you're happy is itself sufficient reason for its existence.
- Creation is another form of leadership. You're not just making things. You're telling your team through what you make: standards aren't just "qualified," there's also "good"; work isn't just "burden," it can also be "enjoyment." The signature you leave on your works, more than the signature on your processes, can retain people.
What you truly need to practice in the Output God Cycle is not becoming better at making — but finding, within making, the creator that surprises even yourself, the one previously suppressed beneath efficiency and unknown to others.
After Walking Out of the Output God Cycle
When the Output God Cycle ends, that impulse of "wanting to make everything well, beautifully, with your own feel" will slowly subside.
But you'll discover that your standards for quality can't go back down. Before, you could accept things that "just need to work"; now, the moment you look at them you feel: "this could be better." This isn't nitpicking — it's that the Output God Cycle left a permanent upgrade in your system: you can no longer tolerate (rough) things, because you've personally experienced what "done well" feels like.
Strong Day Master coming through: You'll take away a unique set of aesthetic and quality standards — not just methods of doing things, but reasons that make others willing to pay for what you make, willing to repeatedly seek collaboration with you. Weak Day Master coming through: You'll take away a memory of feeling joy in creation — this memory will remind you, in the most exhausted moments later: you're not just someone who can work. You also have things that can make your eyes light up.
The most important thing after walking out of the Output God Cycle is to bring your upgraded standards back to daily life. Not every task needs to reach (full marks) — but you already know what feels like, which makes even hitting eighty feel a bit warmer than it does for others.
The spring has already slowed. But the things you left behind — the proposals, systems, even just a phrase in others' mouths of "can't quite say how, but the things they make are just different from others'" — these are already yours.
