What Is the Neutral God?
The Neutral God (Xian Shenis the fourth category within the Useful God system, referring to neutral Five Elements in the chart that neither significantly help nor significantly harm the Day Master — they are neither the Useful God (Yong Shen, nor the Favorable God (Xi Shen, nor the Unfavorable God (Ji Shen. They exist in an "idle" (xianstate, exerting relatively little influence on the chart.
Identifying the Neutral God
After determining the Useful God, Favorable God, and Unfavorable God, the remaining Five Elements in the chart are often the Neutral God:
- They neither generate and assist the Useful God (not the Favorable God)
- Nor control the Useful God (not the Unfavorable God)
- They have little connection to the chart's primary work-production pathways
Characteristics of the Neutral God
- Neutral influence: When a Neutral God appears in a Luck Cycle or Annual Luck, there are typically no significant auspicious or inauspicious changes — the destiny is relatively uneventful
- Transformable: If the Neutral God's Five Element is combined-transformed or triggered into a relationship with the Useful God, it may be upgraded to a Favorable God or Unfavorable God
- Blind School perspective: In the Blind School's (Mang Paiwork-production system, the Neutral God is a Five Element "outside the work-production pathway" — not participating in the primary work production, its energy in an idle state
Impact of Excessive Neutral God
When the chart contains too many Neutral Gods, work-production pathways become disorderly and energy scattered:
- Energy is dispersed, making it difficult to focus on core objectives
- The chart's overall work-production efficiency is reduced
- Life may contain many phases of "being busy without results"
Changes in the Neutral God
Specific Five Elements in Luck Cycles and Annual Luck can activate the Neutral God:
- The Neutral God undergoes combination or clash with the Luck Cycle, is drawn into the chart's work-production pathway, and its nature changes
- The Neutral God, originally neutral, upon being triggered, may participate in the generation or control of the Useful God and transform into a Favorable God or Unfavorable God
