What Is Nurturing (Yang)?
Nurturing (Yang) is the twelfth stage of the Twelve Growth Stages (and the final preparatory stage before Growth). It represents the state in which the Five Elements' qi is being nourished within Conception, slowly accumulating energy. Like an infant gestating in the mother's womb — not yet born, but steadily growing, on the verge of emerging into Growth.

Nurturing is the final stretch of darkness before dawn. The infant in the womb has already taken shape; only one last turn remains before it faces the world. This stage is free of impatience — because nine months have already been waited; two more weeks make no difference. It is also free of panic — because everything is in place; only the right moment is awaited.
Those under Nurturing are often people who are "prepared but not yet moving." They are not hesitating — they are waiting for the right wind. Nurturing is the stage requiring the greatest patience among all Twelve Growth Stages: the preceding Conception has already planted the cause, and the succeeding Growth is the fruit. Nurturing is that suspenseful "about to be completed" — it fills one with anticipation, because it is only one step away from full bloom.
