What Is the Flaming Upward Structure?
The Flaming Upward Structure (Yan Shang Ge /) is one of the five Specialized Prosperity Structures, belonging to the Special Structures category. "Yan Shang" (Flaming Upward) is drawn from the Book of Documents (Shang Shu): "Fire is called Flaming Upward" (Huo Yue Yan Shang) — flames burn upward, symbolizing brightness, passion, and enterprise.
Qualifying Conditions:
- The Day Master is Bing Fire or Ding Fire
- The chart's Earthly Branches form the Si-Wu-Wei Three Gathering of the South, or the Yin-Wu-Xu Three Union Fire Bureau — Fire qi is extremely strong
- No Ren or Gui Water appears in the Heavenly Stems to restrain Fire (or Water is present but extremely weak)
- No Hai or Zi Water in the Earthly Branches, or Water is present but has been combined and transformed
