What This Article Is About
This is not describing who you are, but what kind of environment you are going through.
The Indirect Wealth Cycle (Pian Cai Yun), whether a ten-year Luck Cycle (Da Yun) or a one-year Annual Luck (Liu Nian), does not mean you suddenly become a speculator. It means thehydrological climate you are in has changed. The still-water pond originally suited to your slow cultivation and steady accumulation has become a tidal river with faster currents. Opportunity comes without scheduling; resources leave without explanation — and your returns are no longer proportional to your hours worked.
The same ISFJ, a patient cultivator in a Direct Wealth Cycle, can in an Indirect Wealth Cycle become anxious, chasing, or simply shut the door and refuse to look. What this article will clarify is: what this tide really is, how your Si-Fe-Ti-Ne operates in this irregular environment, and whether you are someone who can stand at the tide's head and strike with precision, or someone who needs to first ensure there is a boat beneath their feet.

What Is the Indirect Wealth Cycle
The Ten Gods (Shi Shen) describe the direction of an energy's action, not a personality. The essence of Indirect Wealth is same polarity, I control: same nature as the Day Master (Ri Zhu), direction flowing outward, energy used for acquiringfluid resources.
It is not "suddenly winning the lottery." More precisely, Indirect Wealth is like a river with accelerated flow — opportunity comes without scheduling; resources leave without explanation. Direct Wealth (Zheng Cai) is a fish pond: you feed, change water, waitat ease; when the season comes, the fish naturally fatten. Indirect Wealth is flood-season river: whether the fish shoal will pass through, when it will pass through, how much your net can scoop in that one cast — not entirely up to you. But you need to stand by the river, and have a net in hand.
Entering an Indirect Wealth Cycle means this high-liquidity, low-certainty acquisition energy is in a dominant position within your current destiny cycle. For ISFJ, this is a relatively uncomfortable energy — because your Si loves predictability, and your Fe hates turning relationships into transactions. But it is not necessarily all bad.
Duration:
- Major Cycle Indirect Wealth: About ten years. Long-term presence in a tidal zone with higher opportunity density but also greater instability. Your income structure, resource logic, and risk perception will all be reshaped.
- Annual Cycle Indirect Wealth: About one year. A burst of high water — sudden opportunities, unexpected income, or a window youalmost missed because you were not ready.
What ISFJ Encounters During an Indirect Wealth Cycle
The most common sensation during this period is "The water has become faster, and I am not someone accustomed to standing in rapids."
It is not that you have lost ability; it is that the familiar rhythm of "slowly do it — steadily receive" is not quite sufficient during this period. Opportunity does not wait for you to consider all details; when it leaves, it does not notify you either.
Specific manifestations typically appear at the following levels:
Career and Opportunity
- The form of opportunity has changed. No longer "gradual advancement through steady accumulation," but "a window suddenly opens, and you must decide within an extremely short time whether to enter."
- Connections suddenly become channels for opportunity. An old colleague, a long-uncontacted friend, someone you helped before — suddenly brings you an opportunity that sending out resumes could not produce.
- Your stable output is no longer the sole valuation standard. Someone values your judgment — "Do you think this thing can be done?" Answering accurately is worth more than doing ten things.
Interpersonal
- Fe is challenged by Indirect Wealth's logic. You are used to maintaining relationships with care; in an Indirect Wealth Cycle, relationships take on functionality — some people become opportunity channels. You are uncomfortable, but youalso indeed see the direction of thewater current.
- You may encounter moments of "human feeling turning into transaction." Someone is already calculating returns while helping you; you sensitivelysense it, but are unsure how to react.
- You have many more "temporary relationships" around you. Indirect Wealth's characteristic: people come fast and leave fast — unlike the long-terminteraction you are used to. ISFJ is very sensitive to "depth of relationship"; this surface-levelfluid will make you feelsuperficial.
Internal
- Si is repeatedly challenged by Indirect Wealth's unpredictability. You are used to preparing in advance — but Indirect Wealth gives no preparation period. Your sense of security is tied to "knowing what will happen next," yet this period keeps saying: there are always surprises next.
- Fe experiences moral confusion. You start asking yourself: "Did I exploit this relationship?" "Did I only see their resource value?" — not that you actually did this, but yourkeen Fe makes you question yourself before others even question you.
- Ne is activated when the tide comes. ISFJ's Ne normallydormant; the Indirect Wealth Cycle forces it online — you must rapidly scan possibilities. But this simultaneously means anxiety: what if this is not an opportunity? What if I chose wrong?
Important note: The Indirect Wealth Cycle is one of the most unfamiliar Ten Gods cycles for ISFJ, but for the strong, it mayhappen to be an opportunity to break the limiting belief of "I must do everything myself slowly." For the weak, this is a period requiring special care not to be swept away by the tide.
Key Judgment: Are You Strong or Weak?
Strong Day Master × Indirect Wealth Cycle: Tide becomes opportunity
For those with a sufficiently strong Day Master, the Indirect Wealth Cycle pushes your Si-Fe system into a more flexible mode. You have enough steadiness to stand by the river — your Si helps you record the patterns of fish shoals; your Fe lets you not fully instrumentalize people in interpersonal channels.
Typical signal: When opportunity comes you can quickly judge; when the tide is fast you do not chase — you choose position and wait for fish shoals to pass; you start enjoying the feeling of "not needing stable cultivation to have harvest."
Weak Day Master × Indirect Wealth Cycle: Tide becomes depletion
For those with insufficient Day Master strength, Indirect Wealth depletes the body — chasing, judging, frequently switching attention — everything costs your energy. Youlikelymay become: always chasing opportunities but catching none, or catching but unable to hold steady and quickly losing them.
Typical signal: Brain very busy every day but output very low; attention fragmented — cannot focus for more than twenty minutes; fear of "missing out" far exceedsanticipation of of "catching hold." Physical signals: insomnia, palpitations, inexplicable anxiety.
Daily self-test: When facing a suddenly appearing opportunity, can you quickly and calmly assess its value before deciding to advance or retreat (tending strong), or does your heart start racing first, judgment starts blurring, and you just want someone to decide for you (tending weak)?
How ISFJ's Cognitive Functions Operate During an Indirect Wealth Cycle
Si (Dominant Introverted Sensing) × Indirect Wealth Cycle
Si in an Indirect Wealth Cycle is repeatedly pulled. What it wants (predictable, regular,at ease preparation) and what Indirect Wealth gives (unpredictable, irregular, immediate reaction) are mutually contradictory.
When Strong: Si upgrades to "tide interpreter." You start using past experience to identify fish shoal patterns — "What was thewater current like last time a similar opportunity appeared?" You are not blindly chasing; you are using pattern recognition to stand in position.
When Weak: Si enters tense archiving. You record every "miss" and every "wrong judgment"; the more you record the tighter you get, and the tighter you get the less you dare to strike.
Fe (Auxiliary Extraverted Feeling) × Indirect Wealth Cycle
Indirect Wealth turns relationships into channels — this is Fe's most uncomfortable usage. ISFJ is used to caring for people, worrying about people, guarding relationships as "people," rather than walking them as "roads."
When Strong: Fe learns a new socialacumen — "on the premise of maintaining basic warmth, accept that some relationships are functional." Not becoming a cold person, but allowing yourself sometimes to connect not only because you "like this person."
When Weak: Fe enters moral anxiety. Every connection makes you ask yourself before sleep: "Am I exploiting them?" — actually you have done nothing wrong; you are simply not used to any element of "use" in interpersonal relations.
Ti (Tertiary Introverted Thinking) × Indirect Wealth Cycle
Indirect Wealth needs astreamlined judgment formula — Ti is demanded for use here. ISFJ's Ti may normally be a bit slow, but in an Indirect Wealth Cycle it must accelerate: Can this thing be done? How many people? What risks? What returns?
When Strong: Ti helps you build a set of rapidfiltering algorithms.
When Weak: Ti either runs half a beat slow (only analyzing after the window has passed), orexcessive compresses (making judgments without sufficient information).
Ne (Inferior Extraverted Intuition) × Indirect Wealth Cycle
There is a natural resonance between Indirect Wealth and Ne — both are "possibilities." This is a point requiring careful handling for ISFJ. The strong canusing the Indirect Wealth Cycle to steer Ne toward creativity — you start seeing paths previouslyoverlooked. The weak mustguard against Ne being pushed by Indirect Wealth into "disaster/missed-opportunity anxiety" — every miss feels like the end of the world.
What Others See vs. What You Are Actually Going Through
What Others See
- ·Suddenly starts caring about "trends" and "opportunities"
- ·Seems to have becomeutilitarian — asks "what are you working on lately" upon meeting
- ·More restless than usual; one thing not finished before looking at the next
- ·Network suddenly broad; seems to know everyone
- ·Become "bold" — dares to jump jobs, invest, try new things
What You Are Actually Going Through
- ·Not caring about trends — your Si is desperately seeking patterns; you just want tofigure out what thiswater current is all about
- ·Notutilitarian — Indirect Wealth has painted all interpersonal relations as potential resource channels; you are just asking a more practical connection point than "have you eaten yet"
- ·Not restless — your Ne has been activated by Indirect Wealth; too many possibilitiesflooding in simultaneously; you have not yet learned how to maintain attention in rapids
- ·Not broad network — Indirect Wealth makes relationships more functional; coming and going fast
- ·Not become brave — Indirect Wealth does not wait for you to be ready; you are just being pushed along, then pretending you proactively chose
Collaboration and Relationships: When the Water Flows Fast
The Indirect Wealth Cycle not only changes your income structure; it also changes the speed at which others approach and leave you.
- What you give is opportunity connection; what the other receives is "you only see me as a resource." You do not think this way, but youindeed faster than before enter "what can we do together" conversations. This is Indirect Wealth's frequency — but for those used to slowly building emotional bonds, this sounds like exploitation.
- What you give is rapid judgment; what the other receives is "you do not value this." Indirect Wealth's window is short — you give conclusions today, may need toclose the net tomorrow. You have no time to lay emotional groundwork. But the other only feels you have becomeunlikepreviously thatcare about this relationship anymore.
- Some people are merely passersby brought by the tide. This is the reality ISFJ most needs to accept in an Indirect Wealth Cycle: not every relationship encountered in the tide is worth maintaining with all yourheart as before. Some people just passed byusingwhile thiswater current.
The relationship lesson in the Indirect Wealth Cycle is not "should I use relationships to gain benefits," but: at the moment when the tide is fastest, can I still look at a person as a person first, before treating them as a "channel"?
5 Signals You Have Already Been Swept Away by the Tide
1. From identifying opportunities to thinking every splash of water is an opportunity. You are no longer precision scanning but full-screen scanning — then see everything, instead catching nothing.
2. From rapid judgment to having no time to judge. You fear missing out, so you strike — but the speed of striking is already above your thinking speed. Not truly decisive; being pushed to run by fear.
3. From having a main river course to wanting to go to every river. Hearing there are fish here, running here; hearing there are fish there, running there — in the end you are not standing steady at any river's edge.
4. From maintaining warmth in relationships to reading everyone as fish channels. You have not talked with anyone about things unrelated to "opportunities," "resources," "next steps" in a long time.
5. Your heart has drifted. Cannot sit quietly for an afternoon; cannot read a book, cannot watch a movie, even with the person you love, your mind is still spinning "will that opportunity run away tomorrow." This is Indirect Wealth's deepestinjury: it swept away your anchor.
Strong ISFJ: How to Make Good Use of This Period
The Indirect Wealth Cycle for Strong ISFJ is a good time to break the limitation of "I can only silently cultivate."
Stand downstream of the river course you are most familiar with — not every river is worth standing at
Your Si gives you an advantage others lack: you remember when this river rose before, remember from which direction fish shoals came during the last similarwater current. No need to chase — choose a position, wait for the tide, strike.
Accept that "relationships can have functionality" — not shameful
What you fear most is objectifying people. But the Indirect Wealth Cycle does not necessarily turn people into tools — just that some relationships, athappen to the right time, gain an additional dimension of "can do something together." Connect with warmth — not abandoning Fe, but giving Fe a larger usage scenario.
Find a rhythm forcapture
Even when strong, you cannot be inhigh-frequency scanning forever. Set "close-the-net time" — a few hours each day completely not looking, not listening, not thinking about opportunities. Indirect Wealth will not miss your fish because you were not watching.
Weak ISFJ: How to Hold Steady Through This Period
The weak in an Indirect Wealth Cycle; the core task is not chasing more, but not letting the tidescatter your rhythm.
Primary task: Find your anchor — the Seal star
Indirect Wealth depletes the body; when weak you most need the Seal star to generate you. The Seal star in reality can be a knowledge system (letting youwithdraw attention), a stable daily habit (at least one segment of the day is completely controllable), or a relationship where no one talks about "opportunities."
Reduce scanning area
When weak you cannot simultaneouslywatching three river courses. Choose one you are most familiar with, most suitable for your current energy level. News from other river courses — this period you can proactivelyblock.
Not fearing to miss — this is very hard but must be practiced
Indirect Wealth's biggest trap: making you feel every wave of fish shoals may be "the last opportunity." It is not. Miss one wave and there is the next, but your energy islimited — once consumed there truly is no more.
"Enough" is more important than "more"
When weak, do not chase the volume of Indirect Wealth — what you want is quality. One opportunity you cansteadily catch is more valuable than three you think you could catch butmay slip from your hands.
Three Stages of the Indirect Wealth Cycle
Rising Tide Phase
You start discovering opportunities have multiplied. Possibly some unexpected income, an unforeseen collaboration invitation, or someone starting tofind you to "chat about whether we can do something together." Ni-types may feel excited in this stage; ISFJ's Si will feel uneasy — "this is not quite the same as usual." The most important thing in this stage is to observe, not toimmediately jump into the center of the river.
Flood Season
The moment of highest opportunity density. You may hear three different directions in one day, each looking like it has opportunity. Strong ISFJ here uses Ti for rapid screening; Weak ISFJ here must remind themselves: not everything that looks like a fish shoal is fish — some are just splashes.
Ebb Tide Phase
Opportunities slowly decrease; flow speed recovers. But you may discover you still maintain the scanning habits of flood season — your heart always feeling "is there one more wave I did not see." The focus of this stage is letting yourself slow down: put away the net, go back to tending your pond. The experiences of the tide passing through — record them; next time the tide comes you will recognize them faster.
Major Cycle Indirect Wealth vs. Annual Cycle Indirect Wealth
Major Cycle Indirect Wealth (about ten years)
Ten years living in the tidal zone. Strong Day Master in Major Cycle Indirect Wealth: over ten years you will develop an ability to "identify opportunity in flow" — this is an uncommon skill set for ISFJ, but once trained it is extremely precious. Weak Day Master in Major Cycle Indirect Wealth: ten years requiring a verystable Seal star system — your steadiness is your most important asset in this Major Cycle.
Annual Cycle Indirect Wealth (about one year)
One year of rising water. If the Major Cycle is stable, the Annual Indirect Wealth is a good window — you may this year have one unexpected harvest, one decisive connection. If the Major Cycle leans weak, the Annual Indirect Wealth is a year requiring focused protection of attention — no large investments, nocasual industry-jumping-industry job changes.
Growth Lessons in the Indirect Wealth Cycle
- Learn to maintain judgment in flow — rather than hiding back in the pond. The Indirect Wealth Cycle did not come to destroy your stability; it came to teach you "stability can have different forms."
- Accept that there can be clean exchanges between people. Warmth does not equal inability to collaborate; collaboration does not equal becoming dirty. You simply have not much experience yet in this dimension.
- Remove "missing out" from your fear list. In an Indirect Wealth Cycle you are destined to miss some things — that is not you being not good enough; it is the nature of tides themselves.
After Exiting the Indirect Wealth Cycle
The tide has receded. The fish shoals have gone. You stand again beside your familiar pond.
But you are not the you from before the tide receded. You discover you have some eyes you did not have before: you can now recognize the signals of change faster; you notice among people some "connection possibilities" that previously you would have overlooked.
Strong, having come through: you carry a set of abilities forcapture in flow — between still water and rapids, you can now switch freely.
Weak, having come through: you carry a moreclear-minded priority system — you know in which river course your energy is sufficient, and in which you would be swept away.
What most needs to be done after exiting the Indirect Wealth Cycle is to release the miscellaneous fish accidentally scooped up in the tide — then seriously cultivate your pond. What suits you, ultimately, is still stability and depth. The Indirect Wealth Cycle only opened a window for you, letting you know there is scenery outside the window too — but home is still beside the pond.
