What This Article Is About
This is not describing who you are, but what kind of environment you are going through.
The Seven Killings Cycle (Qi Sha Yun), whether a ten-year Luck Cycle (Da Yun) or a one-year Annual Luck (Liu Nian), does not mean you suddenly become a targeted person. It means the air pressure you are in has changed. Everything you originally were used to handling with gentleness and stability now requires greater force and a harder stance — and these two things happen not to be what you are most practiced in.
The same ISFJ, when the wind is calm they are a gentle guardian, but in a Seven Killings Cycle they may become a tense, defensive person, evenunfamiliar to themselves. What this article will clarify is: what this headwind really is, how your Si-Fe-Ti-Ne operates in this high-pressure airflow, and whether you are someone who canusing this wind to become more solid, or someone who needs to first find the sheltered side.
What Is the Seven Killings Cycle
The Ten Gods (Shi Shen) describe the direction of an energy's action, not a personality. The essence of Seven Killings is same polarity, controls me: same nature as the Day Master (Ri Zhu), direction coming toward you, andsuppressive energy with no buffer.
It is not some kind reminder, nor aproblem that can be slowly processed. Seven Killings is like a high-pressure airflow rushing straight at your face. Standing in it, evenstand firm requires extra effort. And the coping methods you are most familiar with — gentleness, thoughtfulness, leaving ample space for others — in front of this airflow, will be scattered.
Entering a Seven Killings Cycle means this direct, oppressive, unbuffered energy is in a dominant position within your current destiny cycle. What it tests is not your intelligence, but your carrying capacity — especially what method you use to carry, and whether you dare to change yourhabitual carrying method when necessary.
Duration:
- Major Cycle Seven Killings: About ten years. Long-term living in an environment with higher pressure density. Your relationships, your self-perception, and your relationship with "confrontation" will all be reshaped during these ten years.
- Annual Cycle Seven Killings: About one year. A burst ofstrong wind pressing on the original climate. May manifest as a concentrated eruption of conflicts, aphase-based high-pressure task, or a relational crisis you must face head-on.
What ISFJ Encounters During a Seven Killings Cycle
The most common sensation during this period is "The things I have been caring for are now pressing back toward me."
It is not that no one appreciates your goodness, but the environment has suddenly become harder. Those things you are accustomed to — gentleness, silent dedication, the sense of security built from details — in front of this airflow, seem to no longer work.
Specific manifestations typically appear at the following levels:
Career
- Pushed into scenarios requiring hard bearing. Not your choice — the situation forces it: either step up, or be pressed over. You are used to preparing all details before acting, but Seven Killings does not wait for you.
- The more you do, the more you are demanded. Your reliability is taken as a signal of "can continueadding more pressure." Not that others are deliberate, but your Si-Fe system naturally resembles a good bufferbuffer — others put pressure on, and you naturallytake on it.
- May encounter a superior, colleague, or rule that leaves you breathless. Not targeted at you as a person, but that direct, non-negotiable mannerhappens to strikes the area ISFJ is least adapted to.
Interpersonal
- What hurts most is intimate relationships. Seven Killings does not attack your ability; it attacks the relationships you once thought could be maintained through care and dedication. The gentler you are, the more some peopleinstead do not retreat.
- You may experience a kind of "ineffectiveness of gentleness" — you try to use Fe tomediate, but discover the other person fundamentally does not need mediation; what they want is for you to yield, to retreat, to be pressed down.
- Someone's boundaries directly step onto your Si territory. Your space, your rhythm, the small order you carefully maintain — disrupted by a disrespectful force.
Internal
- Si's defense mode is triggered. You start gripping past experiences more tightly — this handling was right before, why is it not right now? It is not that the method changed; the environment's pressure changed.
- Fe enters contradiction. On one hand you instinctively want to keep caring, keep maintaining harmony; on the other hand you feel anger — a kind of unfamiliar, hard-to-voice anger: why, after I have done so much, do you still treat me this way?
- Ne under high pressure enters worst-case assumption mode. ISFJ's Ne normally leans toward worrying about "what might go wrong"; the Seven Killings Cycle magnifies this tendency to the point of being nearly unstoppable: every possibility runs toward the worst direction.
Important note: The Seven Killings Cycle does not equal inevitable disaster. For the Strong ISFJ, this is a period that forces out your underestimated side — firm, with boundaries, daring to say "no"; for the Weak ISFJ, this is a period requiring priority protection of yourself and reducing exposure.
Key Judgment: Are You Strong or Weak?
During a Seven Killings Cycle, the Strong and Weak ISFJ are almost two completely different people.
Strong Day Master × Seven Killings Cycle: Headwind becomes forging
For those with a sufficiently strong Day Master, the Seven Killings Cycle does not break you, but lets you grow a hardness you did not have before. Your Si-Fe system under high pressure begins to learn one thing: before caring for others, firstguard yourself. Gentleness is not a flaw, but gentleness needs boundaries to be sustainable.
Typical signal: When pressure comes youinstead become calmer; you start discovering you can say "no" wherepreviously you could not; in high-pressure environments you become the unexpected stable point.
Weak Day Master × Seven Killings Cycle: Headwind becomes depletion
For those with insufficient Day Master strength, the Seven Killings Cycle truly is like an entire stretch of continuous high-pressure airflow pressing on the chest. It is not that you do not want to stand up; every time you stand up you are pressed back a little. After a while, it is not that your ability is gone — your body and emotions light up red first.
Typical signal: Every night thinking "what else must I face tomorrow"; sleep becomes shallow, appetite worsens, heartbeat occasionallyinexplicable accelerates; increasingly silent not because nothing is wrong, but because you have no strength to speak.
Daily self-test: Without external support propping you up, when continuously facing high pressure, do youinstead become clearer about what you shouldguard (tending strong), or do youonly want find a place to shut the door and block out all sounds (tending weak)?
How ISFJ's Cognitive Functions Operate During a Seven Killings Cycle
Si (Dominant Introverted Sensing) × Seven Killings Cycle
Si in the Seven Killings Cycle is the first to beimpacted. Your internal archive — past experiences, habitual methods, familiar rhythms — suddenly becomes insufficient in front of this airflow. Original processes are broken; this makes ISFJ extremely uncomfortable.
When Strong: Si changes strategy — you no longer cling to old processes, but rapidly extract from past crisis cases "how I bore through it back then." Not that experiencebecame ineffective; experience has been reorganized.
When Weak: Si enters repeatedrumination. You continuouslyreplaying "did I do something wrong," "what if I had handled it differently back then" — not reflecting, but being pressed down by the past.
Fe (Auxiliary Extraverted Feeling) × Seven Killings Cycle
Fe in the Seven Killings Cycle is the most heavily impacted function. Your most powerful tool all along — caring, mediate, yielding — in front of Seven Killings becomes agiant consumption opening. The more you use Fe to buffer thefacing airflow, the more you discover the airflowdoes not decrease but increases.
When Strong: Fe is forced to grow teeth. You start learning to give boundaries while caring for people — "here is okay, here is not." Not becoming bad; finally understanding the limits of gentleness.
When Weak: Fe enters trauma mode. You one moment over-give attempting to exchange for harmony, the next moment completely shut down becausegiving brought noreturn. Swing amplitude too large; both sides make you more tired.
Ti (Tertiary Introverted Thinking) × Seven Killings Cycle
Ti under high pressure begins to be activated faster. ISFJ normally uses Fe to solve problems; in the Seven Killings Cycle Fe is useless, and Ti is forced online — you start building logic internally: why is this person treating me this way? What is the logical chain of this matter? Which step of my judgment was right, and which step genuinely needs adjustment?
When Strong: Ti helps yousorted out a new internal logic — caring does not equalyielding; gentleness does not equal having no bottom line.
When Weak: Ti's analysis becomes part of the internal drain. You have found the logic, but cannot put it into action.
Ne (Inferior Extraverted Intuition) × Seven Killings Cycle
This is the most dangerous part of the Seven Killings Cycle. Nenaturally leans toward scanning negative possibilities; the Seven Killings Cycle turns it into disaster rehearsal. You continuously imagine the worst outcomes — relationship breakdown, being negated, loss of order and control — and these imaginings in the Seven Killings airflow, each oneespecially real.
What Others See vs. What You Are Actually Going Through
What Others See
- ·Suddenly become very defensive; everything thought toward the worst
- ·Become "hard";unlikepreviously so agreeable
- ·More silent; much fewer words; face alsofastenwhile
- ·Seems to have opinions about everything, but does not directly say them
- ·Control desire has strengthened; everything must pass through your hands torest assured
What You Are Actually Going Through
- ·Not defensive — your internal system has detected genuine threat. Your Si records "this signal appeared before; that time it was really bad"
- ·Not become hard — gentleness in this airflow shows no effect, and you have not yet learned other ways
- ·Not silent — you are spending all energy on maintaining internal structure; there is no extra strength to spread on expression and tone
- ·Not having opinions but not saying — you are uncertain of the consequences of speaking out. Ne has already played all the worst results for you
- ·Not control desire — Si in crisis instinctively tightens all controllable details; this is the only place you still feel you have power
Collaboration and Relationships: When the Wind Is Strongest, Your Biggest Change
The Seven Killings Cycle not only changes the way you bear pressure, but also changes your position in relationships.
- What you give is protection; what the other receives isexcessive control. Your Si has tightened all manageable details; Fe attempts topre-judge for everyone — but what the other feels is often that you do not believe they can handle it themselves.
- What you give is endurance; what the other receives is you giving them the cold shoulder. ISFJ habitually internalizes emotions, feeling that speaking out willdamage relationships. But in the Seven Killings airflow, your silence will be read by the other as attack — when you are really just enduring.
- What you give isyielding; what the other receives is a signal that they can keep pressing. This is the most painful paradox of the Seven Killings Cycle: yourhabitual relationship strategy (step back, soften, soothe the other first)happens to encourages the Seven Killings pressurer to continue.
The relationship lesson in the Seven Killings Cycle is not "how should I restore harmony to this relationship," but: in an environment where harmony is temporarily impossible, how should I protect myself — even if this means the other person feels I am no longer so gentle.
5 Signals You Have Already Been Pushed into the Corner by the Wind
1. From carefulness toexcessive vigilance. You start checking every small thing, every tone in everyone's voice. Not more careful — the system already dares not miss any signal of change.
2. From caring topeople-pleasing. Fe under pressure slides from "I want you to feel better" to "just do not be angry at me" — you no longerdistinguish whether yourgiving is love or fear.
3. From rest to alertpseudo-sleep. You lie down, but your brain spins. Sirepeatedly replays the day's events; Ne rehearsestomorrow possibly worse events. Body lies down; heartnever before truly let go.
4. From selective silence to systemic aphasia. You can feel something pressing in your chest, but cannot turn it into any effective discourse. Not because there are no words — the energy for speaking has already been used tohold up yourself.
5. You start believing "am I really not good enough." Seven Killings' cruelest trick is not making you tired. It is making you, after being tired for a long time, startdoubting whether all of this is because youdeserved this from the start be treated this way.
If you hit two or more of these five, stop — not to figure out how to keep facing the wind, but to stop and first confirm: is there anyone at the place you are currently standing who can stand there for you for a while.
Strong ISFJ: How to Make Good Use of This Period
The Strong in a Seven Killings Cycle: this is an opportunity to force out the underestimated side of your character.
Add boundaries to Fe — not shut it off, but upgrade it
You do not need to abandon gentleness, but you need to let it have teeth. Practice saying "I understand your feelings, but the boundary of this matter is here." — not rejecting others, but teaching others how to treat you properly.
Use Ti to build logical defense lines you previously did not need
You always relied on experience (Si) and care (Fe) to handle relationships, but in the Seven Killings Cycle you need Ti online — build yourself a set of clear internal logic: what I can accept, what I cannot; what I canyielding on, what canretreat not one step further.
Turn pressure into proof of stability
When everyone is blown into chaos by the airflow, if you can stand steady — notrigidly force yourself to endure, but stand steady with boundaries and principles — you build an authority in this period that you did not have before.
Weak ISFJ: How to Hold Steady Through This Period
The Weak in a Seven Killings Cycle; the core task is reduce exposure area, not prove you can bear it.
Primary task: Physical isolation — first find a sheltered place from the wind
Not spiritual victory — at the physical level: reduce contact time with sources of pressure, find a space where you do not need toholding up, and if conditions permit, leave the high-pressure environment even for a short while. Body escapes first; heart can then slowly follow.
Put your own needs first — even if just this once
What ISFJ is least accustomed to is putting themselves ahead. But in a Seven Killings Cycle, this is necessary. What you need to eat today, when to sleep, who you can relax around, who makes you more tired — satisfy these first, then talk about caring for others.
The Seal star transforms Seven Killings — find your shelter
A friend who needs no explanation from you, a relationship that does not demand your strength, a daily habit that lets you recover your breathing rhythm. These are what the Seal star looks like in reality — notescape, but your lifeline in this high-pressure airflow.
Do not make important decisions without shelter from the wind
During Seven Killings' peak periods, do not resign, do not break off, do not make any decision requiring you to bet your entire self. Not that you will never do them — just not when the wind is strongest. Wait for the pressure to drop a bit; your judgment will be more accurate.
Three Stages of the Seven Killings Cycle
Entry Phase
You feel the air thickening. Things stilloperating normally on the surface, but your Si has already detected anomalies — rhythmdisrupted, some people's tone has become heavier, daily life that originally needed no effort begins requiring extra energy. The most important thing in this stage is to acknowledge the airflow is changing, rather than telling yourself "I am just too sensitive."
High-Pressure Phase
Air pressure at its peak. You may be going through a period of intense conflict, a continuous source of pressure, or the hardest confrontation in a relationship. Strong ISFJ here will force out their own boundaries and teeth; Weak ISFJ here must protect their basic physiological and emotional bottom lines at all costs. What is mosttaboo in this stage is still trying to use gentleness to dissolve everything.
Digestion Phase
Air pressure begins to drop. But you have not fully relaxed yet. Body and nerves still carry the memory of the high-pressure phase; Ne is still subconsciously scanning wind directions. The focus of this stage is slow recovery — not immediatelyreturn to being that person who "can care for everything," but first confirming: what genuine boundaries were ground out during this time, which are the lines you will neveryielding again in the future.
Major Cycle Seven Killings vs. Annual Cycle Seven Killings
Major Cycle Seven Killings (about ten years)
This is a change at the level of life's atmospheric belt. You live long-term in an environment with higher density. Over ten years, you may experience one or two relationships or environments that force the Si-Fe system to be thoroughly recalibrated.
Strong Day Master in Major Cycle Seven Killings: over ten years you will grow a gentle suit of armor — still able to care for people, but no longer consumed by caring.
Weak Day Master in Major Cycle Seven Killings: the keyword for these ten years is "survive without beingground down" — find your shelter system, continuously build your Seal star support network.
Annual Cycle Seven Killings (about one year)
One year ofstrong wind superimposed on the originalfoundation. May be a relational crisis, a high-pressure project, or a life node where you cannotyielding. If the Major Cycle is stable, the Annual Seven Killings is often a window for "forcing out boundaries"; if the Major Cycle itself already leans weak, the Annual Seven Killings is the period requiring the mostfocus protection of yourself.
Growth Lessons in the Seven Killings Cycle
- Learn to distinguish: am I caring, or am I in fear. The Seven Killings Cycle will grind especially clear the line between caring andpeople-pleasing. Love does not need you to disappear.
- Accept the legitimacy of anger. ISFJ is least familiar with anger — you are used to replacing anger withgrievance, replacingcounterattack withyielding. The Seven Killings Cycle forces you to face a more direct energy. Anger is not bad — it is simply you finally confirming your own boundaries.
- Upgrade "I do not bully people" to "I do not let people bully me." These two abilities are not mutually exclusive, but youpreviously only practiced the former.
After Exiting the Seven Killings Cycle
The wind has stopped. The air returns to the density you are familiar with.
But you are no longer the you from before the wind came. You carry some new things on you: you know that gentleness and boundaries can coexist; you know that silence does not equal safety; you know that some anger is healthy, that it is the body saying "thisthis is not okay."
Strong, having come through: you take away a set of boundary systems tested by high pressure. Your gentleness now has a skeleton.
Weak, having come through: you take away a moreclear-minded self — you know whatenergy field you cannot bear, know when you should say "I need help."
What most needs to be done after exiting the Seven Killings Cycle is not to immediately return to the old mode of "caring for everyone." Rather, spend a periodre- understanding old gentleness with new boundaries. Your kindness should have teeth — that is what the Seven Killings Cycleground out for you.
